LET’S DREAM EXPERIENCE AT NECKER HOSPITAL
CREATION OF A VIRTUAL REALITY EXPERIENCE
  • BRIEF

The Necker Hospital called upon La Mobylette Jaune to create a virtual reality experience for sick children.

The objective of this project was to immerse young patients in a virtual reality universe during their pre-operative process (journey to the operating room + anesthesia) until they fall asleep.

The idea is to reduce anxiety and pre-operative stress in order to facilitate the child’s adherence to this potentially anxiety-producing and traumatic experience.

  • TARGETS : Children from 5 to 10 years old
  • PROJET :

La Mobylette Jaune  has imagined a 360° VR animation film with scripting of an experience in correspondence with the real. A spatial universe was developed, creating wonder, sensations of lightness and weightlessness. The objective was that the child should not suffer any stress.

For that he discovers the universe in a progressive way and immerses himself slowly to forget the real environment in which he is. A rich sound design was added to fully solicit the senses of the patient. In the experience, a cosmonaut character accompanies the child in his discovery of the universe and regularly requests his attention. This character allows a continuity with reality since the doctor who installs the VR mask on the child will be disguised as a cosmonaut.

Then the story unfolds in 2 phases: phase 1 corresponding to the journey of the stretcher between the music room and the operating room, which is a phase of discovery of the universe and the character that accompanies it.

Then the phase 2 corresponding to the moment of the anaesthesia, where the astronaut presents to the child a spaceship and invites him to embark with him. At this point, the anesthesiologist applies the inhalation anesthesia mask. The child then falls asleep quietly.

Graphically, the design of the experience has been imagined very cartoonish,  “Pixar” type. This allows the child to use familiar visual references and avoids any anxiety-provoking sensation that an empty space universe could cause. In the same way, a series of 3D objects (mini-planets, asteroids, comet particles…) with round and playful shapes gravitate around the child to reinforce this “cartoon” effect.

  • PRODUCTION  : Conceptualization, scripting, writing, production, animation, goodies design, team training
  • DISTRIBUTION : Experience accessible internally for children waiting for transport to the operating room.

3K EXPERIENCE CAPTURES

LET’S DREAM EXPERIENCE AT THE NECKER HOSPITAL
CREATION OF PRE- AND POST-OPERATION GOODIES

PRE-OPERATION

A few hours before their operation, the child is given a brochure allowing them to imagine and immerse themselves in the universe they will discover.

POST-OPERATION

MAGIC STARDUST

During his discovery on the planet Mogbul, the child is invited to go and get some stardust, a magical element promising to heal him.

When the child wakes up after surgery and returns to his room, he discovers a small jar of stardust on his table, echoing the mission he carried out a few hours earlier in the operating room.

BEST STAR HUNTER DIPLOMA

Finally, the child will also receive a diploma for the best star hunter, proof of his or her time on Mogbul, leaving him or her with a memorable souvenir to take home and tell friends about.
